What originally started as an at-home jewelry design business, Plunder Design has expanded to a party plan business. Founder Hillary Adams expanded the business in 2013 and is joined by her husband Abel. They have evolved into a direct sales company that sells chic vintage jewelry and has an estimated 6,000 consultants on their team. In their catalog, Plunder Design offers earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and many others. Customers can even customize their own jewelry as long as it is an image or a text. Most necklaces will cost less than $30 and bracelets will set you back about $15 to $20. Plunder Design offers a wide selection of products, and this is expected to grow as the company grows.
Consultants host parties in order to sell Plunder Design products right in their friends’ homes. The reasonably priced jewelry is trendy enough to appeal to a wide variety of people, which could make it easier to sell and helps them to stand out from the multitudes of other MLM jewelry businesses out there.
Compensation: Like many other MLM companies, Plunder Design pays based on a compensation plan that allows bigger percentages on the commission the higher your rank is. At the most basic level, consultants earn 20%, which is fairly average for other similar MLM companies. As you increase tiers, you can expect to earn more as Plunder Design works under a rank-based income system.
The commission you can expect to earn under Plunder Design’s tier system is as follows:
- Savvy Consultant (base rank): 20%
- Posh Consultant: 25%
- Moxie Consultant: 25%
- Stellar Consultant ( and higher): 30%
Start-Up Costs: There are three different Plunder Design Starter Kits to choose from to get your business up and running. The smallest kit costs $99 and contains $230 worth of products and business supplies. The most expensive kit costs $198. New consultants gain access to a customer service team and team leaders to answer any questions they may have.
Personal Website: It is required for all consultants to have a website, which costs $10 a month.
Quotas to Maintain Active Status: In order to keep your rank status, you must generate $400 to $500 PRV one out of every three months depending on rank.
Bonus Opportunities: Plunder Design has a wide variety of ways to earn bonuses, including a startup bonus to get you motivated to start selling strong and add to your team. They also have a bonus program for new hires which begins 10 days after your initial Starter Kit purchase. If within 40 days, you reach $300 PRV (personal retail volume), you earn $30 dollars in Free Sales tools. If within the first 70 days, and you achieve $400 within days 41-70, you will earn $60 in free sales tools. If within days 71 – 100, and you reach $800 PRV, you will earn $90 dollars in free sales tools. As an added consistency bonus, if you reach all three beginning sales goals, you will receive $100 in Plunder Design products. If you hit all three targets on days 40, 70, and 100 and you sign three new stylists within the first 90 days, you get another $100 in Plunder Design products.
Another offered bonus is the Super Retail Bonus, which means you sold more than $1,200 worth of products in the one month. This is another 2% to 6% bonus based on retail volume. If you are able to sell $1700 in any month, you are able to earn bigger bonuses. The more you sell, the bigger your bonus percentile is. And like most MLM companies, the more consultants you add to your team, the more you can earn. As you add to your team, you can earn between 5% to 8% on wholesale volume. An attractive part of this is you can earn this bonus more than four generations deep.
