Park Lane Jewelry has been helping women make money selling jewelry from home since 1955. Founded in Chicago by Shirley and Arthur LeVin, Park Lane has expanded into an international business. Over 60 years later, Park Lane is still being guided by the LeVin family. They are industry leaders in the direct jewelry sales and home party business, and are proud to be on the trending edge of jewelry while also providing everything their direct sellers need to be successful at a home-based business.
Park Lane offers a full line of fashion jewelry for women, with some offerings directed at men as well. Jewelry categories include necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings (both clip-on and pierced), watches, and miscellaneous items such as pins and cufflinks. Most of their jewelry falls between $16 and $200 USD, with the Canadian and UK prices also listed right next to the item in their catalogs. (There is one outlier to this price range: Park Lane’s Signature bracelet is $500.) Their most recent catalog is available for download online, and they also feature a limited number of items (along with a Sale category) directly on their site. Their jewelry is made from a variety of materials, from cubic zirconia and simulated gemstones to genuine gemstones and Swarovski crystal. Park Lane lists jewelry as either gold or silver on their site and catalog, but there is no indication whether they mean sterling silver, real gold, or whether the jewelry is only silver- or gold-plated. All jewelry comes with a 100% unconditional guarantee.
Park Lane also offers a robust training system – direct sellers receive a training DVD and a manual with step-by-step directions along with mentoring from managers. There are also 2 to 3 training meetings every month, where sellers can enjoy getting to know other team members, participate in raffles, and check out the jewelry.
Compensation and Bonuses: Direct sellers for Park Lane, called Fashion Directors, immediately start at a 30% sales commission and have the opportunity to increase that commission to 50% over time. For example, sellers can increase their commission to 35% in the first month by doing 4 shows and signing 1 recruit. (Park Lane refers to that permanent increase as attaining the first level of leadership). Their home party hostesses can earn $600 in jewelry for $30 (plus tax) each show and other rewards. Based on selling and recruiting performance, Fashion Directors can also earn free jewelry, all-inclusive vacations, and a new car. Park Lane offers 2 vacations per year to either a European or Caribbean destination, and Fashion Directors can earn these by doing 5 shows and signing 1 recruit every month.
Payment schedule: Payments are made in cash on a weekly basis.
Start-Up Costs: You have a few options to choose from when joining Park Lane. You can pay out of pocket for your choice of two kits priced at $129 or $500. Or, you can earn your kit at no charge. Kits come with jewelry, a ring sizer, the annual catalog, and paper products (invitations, order forms, hostess packets, and more).
In order to qualify as a Park Lane Fashion Director and receive your free kit, direct sellers must hold an introductory show that is hosted by an experienced Park Lane manager. Once this is completed, your starter kit is considered reserved and shipped out. There is a $39 registration fee, and the Park Lane site specifies that the commission on the first $600 in sales is reserved to cover kit cost.
Note that direct sellers must satisfy their free starter kit by committing to do 5 shows in 1 month. There is also a Gold Membership that is $50 – the Park Lane site suggests this can be covered by your profits.
Quotas: As a Fashion Director, there are no minimum requirements. However, once a Fashion Director becomes a leader, they are expected to do 2 shows or sign 1 recruit per month. You can quit at any time, and keep all profits and jewelry you’ve earned.
