Inspired by New York's “City that Never Sleeps” energy and fusion of cultures, Color Street is a direct sales company that offers colorful nail art design. Fa Park started the company in 1984 after he saw a woman in a nearby cab in NYC trying to polish her nails. He believed that there had to be a better way. He bought nail polish and started to experiment with it on different kinds of paper to find the best way to easily apply the polish. Finally, he was able to create a process where even though the top of a nail strip was dry, the bottom was still moist and could adhere to the nail. All strips are made in the US because Park wanted to continue on the American Dream. Color Street has been in business for more than three decades and has evolved into a home party company that allows women everywhere to be a part of his company.
Color Street has more than 95 different nail strips available for purchase. They have a wide variety of options including French nails, glitter, holiday, and other themed patterns. Color Street nail strips are advertised to stay on for two weeks after they are applied and there are 16 strips in each set. Customers have said that they are able to get three or four manicures or pedicures out of each set. Since the kits sell for about $13 each, that means customers are getting great value for their money.
Compensation: Through their compensation plan, Color Street Stylist's can earn money 12 different ways under three different categories. Stylists can earn money through a marketing, leadership, and executive phase. As with most MLM companies, the more products you sell at Color Street, the higher your potential commission percentage is. However, since Color Street’s products are so affordable, you do have to sell more products to be able to make a decent income.
Through the marketing phase, stylists can earn jump start incentives (the incentives vary), 25% base retail commission, which is paid weekly. Currently, the jump start incentive has set milestones for your first 35 days, 65 days, and 95 days. If you are able to hit your jump start goals, which include selling certain amounts of products and enrolling more qualified stylists, you are able to earn product credits.
To earn more commission, you can build your own team, which allows you to earn 3% bonus on anyone you add to your team through the leadership phase.
Start-Up Costs: To join, stylists must buy a basic starter kit at $129 which contains $250 worth of sample products such as nail strips, remover pads, nail files, cuticle sticks, tote bags, catalogs, and other training materials. There is an additional kit available at $299 which contains more samples and products to either keep for yourself, use as promotional giveaways, or sell.
Personal Website: Customers aren't able to directly view the products on the Color Street website. First, they have to find a distributor, so every single stylist must have a website where potential customers can view products and purchase items. The cost per month for a website is $9.95 per month, with the first month free.
Quotas to Maintain Active Status: To stay active, you must submit $300 in one month over a six-month period.
Bonus Opportunities: All stylists who earn more than $600 in a month will receive an additional 3% commission bonus on their next paycheck.
Once you have received the level of Executive director, you can earn a “Lifestyle Bonus” which can be as much as $1,000 per month on top of all other commissions. This bonus can be used for any visible enhancement of your quality of life, including a luxury car or bigger home.
Color Street accepts stylists of all ages and locations in the United States. Currently, they only ship within the US.
